Would a simple comparison station help visitors see how scarf colors affect a portrait? Our library is planning a portrait display, and visitors may choose a scarf before sitting for a photograph. I want the choice to feel playful, with no suggestion that one set of colors belongs to everyone. We could offer muted and vivid fabrics, while keeping the background and camera settings consistent for each person. The difficult part is describing what changes without telling a visitor that their preferred scarf looks wrong. Perhaps visitors could describe what they notice around the face before anyone mentions a season or undertone. The starting point for my reading has been personal color analysis but I would welcome advice from people who have run similar informal activities with mixed age groups. Which questions would you put on a short feedback card, and which claims would you avoid making altogether?
